On seed oils: same old PMIDs (1970s-1990s) as another post from the same author, contradicted by recent controlled-trial meta-analyses that find no inflammatory effect from linoleic acid and a net cardiometabolic benefit when it replaces saturated fat. On sugar vs. fruit/honey: added sugar is indeed associated with higher cardiometabolic risk in cohort studies, but there's no evidence that fructose from honey is fundamentally different beyond its matrix (fiber, micronutrients) — honey is still calorie-dense and sugary, deserving the same moderation. On grains: the idea that "most modern grains are ultra-processed and full of anti-nutrients" over-generalizes — whole-grain bread or whole oats aren't ultra-processed under any recognized scientific classification. Stacking three unrelated claims under one narrative makes the whole thing hard to evaluate honestly, which is itself a signal worth noting.

What’s uncertain

The mortality figures come from observational cohorts (association, not proof), and they're driven largely by sugary drinks and total intake. Framing sugar as an addictive drug isn't backed in humans and can fuel unhelpful all-or-nothing thinking.
