what it claims

Stretching before activity prepares tissue for movement, and stretching after activity helps restore muscle length and reduce stiffness; combining strength and mobility is said to protect against injury better than either alone.

noli's read

The described mechanism — stiff tissue limiting joint range and redistributing load — is plausible, but the central claim, that stretching 'plays a key role in injury prevention,' doesn't hold up: a systematic review (Small, Mc Naughton & Matthews, Journal of Sport Rehabilitation, 2008) and a meta-analysis of 26,610 participants (Lauersen et al., British Journal of Sports Medicine, 2014) both find that stretching alone doesn't reduce overall injury risk (RR close to 1, not significant), while strength training cuts it roughly to a third. The post is right about something more modest: stretching genuinely improves range of motion and can ease post-exercise stiffness, which is a different claim than 'preventing injuries.' The line 'strength without mobility increases injury risk' borrows credibility from strength training's real protective effect and quietly folds mobility — which doesn't have that effect — into the same sentence. The practical suggestion (a balanced few-minutes routine) is harmless and reasonable; it's the injury-prevention promise that outruns the evidence.
