The impact of dry sauna heat on heart health and overall vitality is based on very interesting scientific data. A famous Finnish observational study, the KIHD cohort led by Dr. Laukkanen and published in JAMA Internal Medicine in 2015, followed more than 2,000 participants over two decades. It shows that regular practice of 4 to 7 sessions per week lasting more than 19 minutes is associated with a dramatic improvement in life expectancy and cardiac fitness. These observational data were confirmed for both sexes in another 2018 publication in the journal BMC Medicine. Nevertheless, presenting this practice as an absolute guarantee against cardiac risks is a slight exaggeration, as these observational studies do not replace randomized clinical trials (RCTs). It is highly likely that regular practitioners of this ritual lead generally healthy lives as well. Finally, the recommendation to drink mineralized water is an excellent piece of common-sense advice to compensate for electrolyte loss through sweat, but it is not specifically linked to the longevity benefits highlighted by the cohort studies.
