Stripped of the alarmist framing ("they'll take this down", additives listed as poisons), the core claim — refined sugar and glucose syrup causing a rapid blood-sugar spike, an insulin crash, and a craving loop — holds up reasonably well. A tightly controlled feeding trial (Hall et al. 2019, Cell Metabolism) found that calorie-matched ultra-processed meals led people to eat roughly 500 extra kcal/day than an unprocessed menu, exactly the craving-loop mechanism described here. What isn't supported is the literal comparison to "addiction": human addiction evidence is thin, and most of what exists comes from animal models with intermittent sugar access, not a drug-like pharmacological hook (Westwater et al. 2016). The side claims about systemic inflammation and gut disruption are plausible but rest on weaker, mostly observational evidence (a low-certainty umbrella review), and the food-dye/hyperactivity link mostly applies to children in studies with modest effects. The core message — this candy is engineered to keep you eating with no nutritional upside — holds; the "organized addiction" framing overstates the certainty.
