The video frames the previous night's dinner as the hidden lever for lowering fasting glucose — the evidence points the other way. A controlled trial (11 people with type 2 diabetes, tracked via continuous glucose monitor) found no significant difference in morning glucose between a protein, fat, carb, or no bedtime meal; only 2 of 11 patients showed an individual response. A more recent study (JMIR Formative Research, 2023, 21 adults with type 2 diabetes) confirms there's no effect of last-meal timing on the size of the dawn phenomenon. The phenomenon itself is real and well documented (Monnier et al., 2013, Diabetes Care): it's driven by the circadian rhythm of cortisol and growth hormone, which ramp up liver glucose production in the early morning regardless of what was eaten the night before. The video sells a '3-step formula' as the fix, but the literature shows dinner composition isn't, for the vast majority of people, the lever doing the work here. This is a case where the framing outruns what the data can actually support.
