Stripped of the "sleeping in Antarctica" bit, the claim is: an overheated bedroom hurts sleep, and cooling it fixes that. That tracks with known physiology — core body temperature has to drop to trigger and sustain sleep. A recent controlled trial (n=17, water-cooled mattress topper, overheated bedrooms) measured +19 min total sleep time and -10 min sleep-onset latency; a multi-center polysomnography study (n=72) found more deep sleep (N3) with passive body cooling. A systematic review of 25 studies on personal thermal comfort systems concludes they generally improve sleep quality and thermal comfort. The effect is real but modest, and matters most for people who genuinely sleep hot — not a universal lever for everyone.
