An intervention study (Hafen et al. 2018, 6-day deep-tissue heat therapy) measured a 45% rise in HSP70 and 38% in HSP90, with mitochondrial respiratory capacity up 28%. The "102.4°F/39°C" figure isn't invented. What's extrapolated is the direct link between that threshold and a measurable longevity payoff: the studies tying sauna to mortality (the Finnish Laukkanen cohort) track weekly session frequency, not a precise internal-temperature threshold in minutes — the "it takes me 31 minutes" is a personal observation, not something a research protocol validated. The mechanism is real and well documented; translating it into an individually-quantified longevity benefit is an oversimplification.
